About the Author

Boszenna Nowiki

I was born in Poland in a small town close to a large forest. From an early age I was attracted towards writing, at the ripe age of five, I still remember I wrote a story about 3 princes and the oldest one was helping everyone. However I did not know how to write yet. It was in undulating lines and zigzag symbols so no one could decipher it - even me.
It was three notebooks full of adventures and positive legends, and changing bad witches into good fairies.

The next big attempt at writing I made at 24 years old and it was a book about two girls who got lost in a Canadian forest. The book was full of adventures, humor and information about wildlife.
The book never got published and soon life gave me a husband and two wonderful children.

As far as I could remember I always dreamt of having a horse, a farm close to the forest and wanted to be a cowgirl. Now I know that with dreams I must be careful as they may come true! Soon I had a farm, a horse, a cow, 4 sheep, a goat, 40 chickens (though half of hawks had for supper).

But I also had big dreams about traveling the world. After six years of farming I came to Western Canada through Greece , Spain and Eastern Canada . Within 15 years in Canada , the children grow up fast and left home. Ex-husband got lost looking for more adventures outside of the Country. I finally stopped, and it was by Pacific Ocean, I love British Columbia and here I found a job I loved, and all my dreams came together.

I was a tour guide and bus driver for Spanish speaking tourists. It was so much fun driving around the most beautiful places in BC, like the Rocky Mountains , Whistler, Victoria etc. But as much as I loved working as a tour guide, when I came home at the end of a long day nobody was waiting for me, no pets, no husband and no children. Something was missing and I felt alone like never before.

So twice a year I had a vacation. First vacation of the year was for the first 6 months when I was driving tourists every day, 15 or 16 hours a day without a day off. I didn't need days off I had a great deal of fun, walking near lakes, seeing grizzly bears, elks, flying in helicopters, and meeting some great people. It was not a job - it was just lots of fun. During the winter I wrote for 10 – 12 hours a day in between taking off to ride horses as a hobby.

One day very unexpectedly, a captain of the seas crossed my path. Until that time I decided to be alone for rest of my life, but I forgot that I had always one more dream – to find real love. He was a widower with 9 cats. I never dreamed about having cats, especially 9 of them, but I did married this wonderful man so I had to accept the whole package (cats and all) .

The house was ruled by the cats, especially by Rascal, the yellow cat with black speckles on his nose. Having such a big family I had no time to drive buses and be a tour guide any more. I finally put all my energy into my dream of writing, Rascal became by inspiration. Rascal and all the others doing lots of mischievous things helped me perfectly with ideas.

Though there is lots of negativity in the world I was pulled to the positive side and wanted to help others wear a smile on their face. Now I'm a full time writer and cat mom.
